The “Friends of Housing” the political arm of the Michigan Association of Home Builders, has endorsed Steven Bieda for State Senate in the 9th State Senate District. The Michigan Association of Home Builders has a membership of 5224 across the state. Endorsements by Friends of Housing are not made on the basis of political party, but by who has or will do the best job of making the economy and housing a top legislative priority in the 2011/2012 session.
The School Administrators Political Action Committee, citing Steven Bieda’s “strong background or interest in public education” has endorsed Steven Bieda in the race for State Senate in the 9th State Senate District.
The SAPAC is the political action committee representing public school superintendents, associate superintendents, firt-line assistants and retired superintendents. It is a non-partisan organization, and has historically always supported both republican and democratic candidates.
Graciously acknowledge the endorsements of Macomb County Sheriff Mark Hackel, County Prosecutor Eric Smith, County TreasurerTed Wahby and Public Works Commissioner Anthony Marrocco for Steve Bieda for State Senate in the November 2, 2010 General Election.
The Michigan Manufacturers Association has endorsed Steven Bieda for State Senate in the 9th State Senate District for the November general election. In making the endorsement, the MMA noted that Bieda’s ”strong support for issues of importance to manufacturers and job providers in this state will be a positive force in Michigan’s Legislature and efforts to move this state forward.”

The Michigan League of Conservation Voters Endorsed Steven Bieda for the Michigan State Senate, citing Bieda’s “proven ability to bring green jobs to Michigan.” According the MLCV’s press release, “When Steve was in the State House, he was a reliable leader on many of the most important conservation issues facing the state and we are eager to send him back to Lansing to serve in the State Senate, a body which is in desperate need of his voice on these important subjects,” said Lisa Wozniak, Executive Director for Michigan LCV. “Steve’s remarkable foresight and action on issues like Asian Carp and advanced battery technology demonstrates the kind of vision he has for both Michigan’s environmental and economic health.”
Both of Metro-Detroit’s major newspapers have endorsed Steven Bieda for State Senate in the 9th Legislative District. The Free Press endorsement came out in early October with the Detroit News making its endorsement on October 26, 2010. Both newspapers noted Bieda’s expertise in government, especially his work on major ethics reforms, and both newspapers had previously endorsed Bieda in the August primary.
The Editorial Board of the Detroit News has endorsed Steven Bieda for State Senator in the 9th District. “…former State Rep. Steven Bieda, an attorney and tax law expert. While he was in the Legislature he was a champion of ethics reform, successfully pushing through legislation requiring politicians to disclose contributions to their legal defense funds. He also advocated a cooling off period before lawmakers become lobbyists, sought full financial disclosure for political figures and complete accounting for lobbyist-funded trips. His background as a tax analyst will prove especially useful.”
Members of the Eastpointe City Council, Wendy Richardson, Veronica Klinefelt, Philip Guastella, and Bill Sweeney, along with Mayor Suzanne Pixley and former Eastpointe Mayors James Kelly, David Austin and Harvey Curley have enthusiastically endorsed Steven Bieda for State Senate. “Bieda is by far the best, and most accomplished choice,” in the race for the Michigan State Senate.
